ELECTRICITY CONTRACT PRICING
As we all approach the introduction of the carbon tax, our customers are more than ever realising the importance of using our services in negotiating their electricity contracts.
The electricity retailers all purchase power from different sources which means the carbon tax obligations will vary from retailer to retailer.
Electricity retailers are currently presenting their offers in different formats which include the following:
1. Offers only including the carbon tax
2. Offers excluding the carbon tax with a pass through clause in the contract
3. Offers excluding the carbon tax and including the carbon tax
As experienced electricity brokers we are able to assist your business in making informed decisions when securing your next contract.

THE CARBON TAX - WHAT EVERY BUSINESS NEEDS TO KNOW
As we are all aware the Carbon Tax will come into effect on the 1st July this year. There has been much debate on this topic but one thing is for sure this is going to cost your business money.
The Australian Government has placed a fixed price on carbon for the next 3 years and is then proposing an emissions trading scheme moving forward. The 1st year price has been set at $23 per tonne.
One thing they haven't been actively promoting is the carbon price you will pay will vary from state to state, with Victoria being the hardest hit with the Carbon Tax and Tasmania the least. This is due to how they calculate a tonne of carbon. Every state in Australia generates electricity from different sources (Wind, hydro, coal ETC.) which affects the calculation of carbon the generators produce.
In a two speed economy and the manufacturing sector hurting already, this is certainly going to add extra pressure in an already challenging business environment.
